How Machine Learning has Evolved in the Last Decade

Abstract: Machine Learning gives computers the ability to learn from data without being explicitly programmed. Algorithms and applications of machine learning have significantly evolved in the last ten 10 years. Most prominently, neural networks have been celebrating a comeback under the term “Deep Learning”. This talk will first provide a short introduction to machine learning. It will then present an overview of recent  advances and put them in context of the long-term challenges of artificial intelligence research.
