Prof Dr Patrick Siegfried studied Business Administration in Mannheim and Executive MBA at the University of Bradford/UK. He completed his doctorate in 2012 at the University of Economics in Wroclaw/PL with a PhD in "Strategic Controlling in Young SMEs" and in 2014 at the University of Agriculture in Kaposvár/HU with a PhD in "Service Engineering in SMEs". In 2023, he completed his habilitation/Dr. habil. at the Budapest University of Economics/HU with a defence on the topics of "Sustainable Supply Chain Management" and "Service Engineering - Digital Service Industry".
During his 20 years in the private sector from 1987-2008, he worked in the food retail sector as Sales Manager/REWE Leibbrand OHG and as Sales Manager Prokurist/LIDL GmbH & Co. KG. His knowledge of the food industry is rounded off by a position as managing director in food production at Desserts Salate Snacks GmbH and as commercial manager at top Logistik/WIV Wein International AG (Pieroth Wein GmbH). His experience in industry, wholesale/retail, with managerial activities and personnel/budget responsibility in the areas of purchasing, production, sales and logistics is incorporated into the lectures.
He also has 37 years of logistics experience as a reserve officer in the Bundeswehr, currently serving as a retired colonel and head of department at the Bundeswehr Logistics Command in Erfurt.
From 2012-2015, Patrick Siegfried was a Visiting Professor at the Offenburg and Mannheim universities in the Faculty of Industrial Engineering and from 2015-2022, he was Professor of International Management and Head of the Master International Business programme at the ISM International School of Management in Frankfurt. Since 2019, he has held a Guest Professorship for Entrepreneurship at the MATE Agricultural University Budapest/HU Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and was awarded the honorary title of University Professor/Prof. h.c. in 2024.
