On the website for child and youth care of the city of Trier, you have the opportunity to select the right childcare for you from a database of crèches, after-school care centers, kindergartens and youth facilities.
You can also find a list of childcare facilities on the website of the district of Trier-Saarburg under "Familienwegweiser".
The website of the city of Idar-Oberstein offers you a list of available childcare facilities, for the district of Birkenfeld you can find the daycare centers on the websites of the individual municipalities:
If you need flexible childcare close to home or additional childcare in addition to daycare or school, you have the option of hiring a childminder.
The practice of child day care is subject to authorization according to § 43 SGB VIII, i.e. day carers receive permission to practice child day care according to § 43 SGB VIII after several interviews, 2 home visits and the presentation of a medical certificate, a police clearance certificate and participation in a 160-hour qualification. The care usually takes place in the home of the childminder. Please contact the staff at the youth welfare office or the independent provider. In a personal meeting, addresses of childminders with free childcare places will be compiled according to your personal care needs.
You can then use the list of addresses to contact the childminders yourself and choose a childminder. An application for financial support for childcare can be submitted to the youth welfare office.
