The departmental and interdisciplinary orientation services during the study entry phase aim to support first semester students to find their way around their new environment faster and more efficiently.
During the start of the semester, the individual departments offer introduction events. First semester students can get to know the campus with its most important services during information and orientation events or workshops. It also give them an opportunity to get in touch with their fellow students and their professors.

The university library team offers a 15min guided introduction to the libraries at the beginning of each semester. It informs new students on the different ways of using the library: looking for textbooks and borrowing them, using the library catalogue and data base, finding articles in scientific journals and copying them as well as using interlibrary loan. Using the online-platform panopto, the university provides introductory screencasts to topics such as:
Registering for a lecture or consultation with a professor through StudIP, using the library, using the online-catalogue of the library or using the interlibrary loaning system.
