What do you do if the kindergarten closes at 3 p.m. but your working or lecture day is far from over? In such cases, Trier University of Applied Sciences offers all members of the university with children the opportunity to take advantage of emergency childcare during off-peak hours.
In cooperation with Caritas, Trier University of Applied Sciences offers this opportunity to all students and employees in Trier in the "ad hoc room for children" in the Tarforst residential complex, Building IV.
The need for childcare must be registered by 10:00 a.m. the day before at the latest by calling the Caritas Family Service Bitburg (06561 9671 - 125; please leave a message on the answering machine if necessary). At the agreed time, you then bring the child to the "ad hoc" childcare rooms at the university. There they will be looked after by Caritas staff. There is the opportunity to play, do handicrafts, run around and do homework.
This service is free of charge. Please note, however, that children should visit the facility one or more times with mom or dad before the first day of care. This helps the child to acclimatize to the new environment and to get to know the caregivers.
You can register your childcare needs by telephone or e-mail up to 24 hours in advance. At the registered time, bring your child or children to the entrance of the childcare rooms in the new communications building. The entrance is on the side facing the canteen. There, your child will be welcomed by a caregiver, usually a trained educator. The rooms are equipped appropriately for children and offer plenty of space to play, rest and do homework. Childcare is also free of charge here.
