The project “Sustainable Software Development“ was intended to realistically depict the cycle of sustainable software projects based on the division of labor. Students went from analysis and planning to implementation and delivery, thereby preparing students for the international job market.
The project was divided into three phases: 1) an abbreviated version of software development was simulated during a four-day kick-off workshop in Jordan. The students then developed ideas for creating a mobile app in the context of the UN‘s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and formed international teams. 2) The students developed their mobile apps virtually in their teams and received input from our international guest lecturers and experts in software engineering. 3) The students presented their apps at a final conference at Trier University of Applied Sciences. Entrepreneurship workshops enabled students to develop a business plan, pitch and commercialize their ideas, and founded their start-ups.
