Trier University of Applied Sciences: Graduate International Research Opportunities (GIRO)

About the project

In the "HAW.International" funding line of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Trier University of Applied Sciences was able to convince with four project applications and gain further impetus for internationalization. The "Trier University of Applied Sciences International: Graduate International Research Opportunities (GIRO)" project, which will receive funding of almost 500,000 euros between 2024 and 2025, is pursuing the internationalization of doctoral structures with a strong network of university and practice partners in Germany and abroad.

OUR PROJECT OBJECTIVES FOCUS ON

  1. Capacity building for young researchers:
    German and international doctoral candidates are qualified for the international academic and non-academic labor market in early career phases and trained competitively in a strong international network of university and practice partners.
  2. Institutional capacity building:
    Trier University of Applied Sciences improves the structural and institutional framework conditions for international doctoral support by strengthening internationalization competencies in the areas of academia, research management and science communication. In this way, Trier University of Applied Sciences will increase its international visibility and attractiveness for German and international doctoral candidates in the long term.
