Potential new university applicants, i.e. young people between 17 and 24 years of age, can no longer be reached with a newspaper ad, but on social networks. And who better to strike the right note than the students themselves? Yannick Uhl, Tim Weiß and Bastian Frantz study Intermedia Design at the Design Campus and have meanwhile even founded their own film production company "Bismarck & Nagel" (www.bismarck-nagel.com). The actors in the videos are also students. The resulting advertising campaign is the best example of the interdisciplinary integration of study and practice at the Campus Design of the University of Applied Sciences Trier.
Initially, spots were shot for the courses of study Fashion Design and Interior Design. Further spots for the four other courses of study on the Design Campus - Architecture, Gemstone and Jewellery, Communication Design, Intermedia Design - are in planning.
The conception and realisation of the video clips was completely done by the students themselves, from story scripting and filming to sound recording and editing. The three students were only supported in the idea development phase by professors Servet Ahmet Golbol from Intermedia Design and Christopher Ledwig from Communication Design.
It is the fresh and unconventional approach of the students that makes up the two current spots. "The work of the students shows an incredible professionalism. They master the classic stylistic devices and combine them with surprising elements," says Prof. Servet Ahmet Golbol, who accompanied the campaign development process. "Bock auf Stoff?", for example, is the provocative slogan for the fashion design department, "Einfach mal die Fräse halten!
