Creative activity is part of everyday life on campus design. This weekend, however, it was not only students who became creative. Participants from all over Germany, from all professions and age groups came together to develop ideas for innovative business models.
The Startup Weekend is an international event format in which founders and those who want to become founders come together to present and further develop their business models. Mentors from the regional and supra-regional economy support the startup weekends. The aim is to prepare a convincing presentation of the business idea, a so-called pitch, within 72 hours and present it to a jury. The best ideas are awarded.
Traditionally, the startup weekend of the media and IT network Trier-Luxembourg attracts a broad target group. This year even a group of students from Stuttgart travelled to present their idea and take part in the event.
Many successful final presentations
After 72 hours of intensive work and thinking, the pitches at the end of the event were so successful that a total of three first prizes were awarded by the jury. The jury included representatives of the local economy as well as Prof. Linda Breitlauch from the Intermedia Design department. The student project "BlindSpot", which was developed on campus, wants to make art palpable for blind people and thus experienceable. Also among the winners were the web portal "Porta Familia" and "Zmoobi", a start-up that wants to provide companies with fresh smoothies as part of its corporate health management.
The Startup Weekend was a great success for all participants, participants and organisers, and the event will also take place next year.
