Following a selection process by the Senate Committee for International Affairs, the DAAD award for outstanding foreign students is awarded to Ms. Nioosha Vaezzadehangoshtarsaz this year. She was selected because of her exceptional social and cultural commitment alongside with her studies and her impressive artistic work.
She began her studies in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program at Trier University's Gemstone and Jewelry Department in the winter semester of 2018. Due to the exceptional quality of her artistic and craft work, she was able to transfer to the Master of Fine Arts in Gemstones and Jewellery in the winter semester 2021/22, where she is currently studying in the first semester.
In 2018, Ms. Vaezzadehangoshtarsaz fled Iran and spent a year in a shelter in Athens, Greece. During her time in Athens, she volunteered at the 'Action for Women' and 'Education for Women' facilities in childcare and as an interpreter. Currently, she works alongside her studies in Idar-Oberstein at the Youth Art School, teaching children of different nationalities how to paint and draw.
