Examination Boards

Tasks

According to the various examination regulations, the examination boards of the department have the following tasks:

  • Organising the examinations and making decisions in examination matters
  • Ensuring compliance with the provisions of the examination regulations
  • Regular reports (by the chairperson) to the departmental council on

-the development of examination and study times

-the actual completion times for final examinations

-the distribution of examination grades and overall grades
 

  • development of suggestions for reform of the examination regulations

Composition

According to the examination regulations, the examination boards generally have the following composition:

  • For Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes, four and three members respectively from the group of professors
  • One member from the group of staff members
  • One student member

Student applications to the examination board

Students can submit applications to the examination board responsible for their degree programme at any time. Applications must always be made in writing and include the following information:

  • Name, address and matriculation number of the applicant
  • Specification of the examination regulations applicable to the applicant
  • Explanation of the context (including appropriate supporting documents, if necessary)
  • Description of the request including a citation of the basis for the claim (paragraphs from the examination regulations)

Extension of the processing time of the thesis

Requests for an extension of the processing time of the thesis can be sent by email directly to the chairperson of the examination board of the respective degree programme. This email should contain:

  • The name and matriculation number of the applicant
  • Specification of the examination regulations applicable to the applicant
  • Reasons for the application

Furthermore, the supervisor of the thesis and the secretary's office should be copied in.

If you wish to extend the processing time due to illness, an application is not necessary. Instead, submit a medical certificate to the Secretariat within your original processing time. The processing time will then be extended by the number of certified sick days.
