In the degree programmes Business Administration (B.A.), Business Information Systems (B.Sc.) and Industrial Engineering and Management E-Technology (B.Sc.) it is possible to replace the practical project in the 6th semester with a semester abroad or an internship abroad.
You will find an overview of the respective achievements to be made in the following:
Semester according to study plan | As study abroad | As internship abroad |
---|---|---|
6th semester / summer semester | 18 ECTS points | 14 weeks full-time |
If your personal course of study deviates from the recommended study plan, the stay abroad can also take place in a winter semester.
Please contact the faculty coordinators for information on the possibility of studying for the whole year.
Further information is available in the information presentation on the semester abroad.
Important: It is important that you stay enrolled at Trier University of Applied Sciences during your study-abroad.
Admission requirements
You can apply for your desired stay abroad if you have earned a total of at least 90 ECTS credits and have successfully completed all compulsory courses in the first three semesters. In rare, justified exceptional cases, the examination board can grant an exceptional approval upon application.
Please note: If you intend to obtain an additional Master's degree abroad, you need 180 ECTS points, the final thesis and at least "good" grades in advance.
Study place abroad
The easiest way to obtain a place to study abroad is to apply for a place at one of our numerous partner universities. If you are interested, you must apply via email and select two partner universities (with first and second priority) there.
The application for the summer semester is in September, for the fall semest in February. The exact dates will be announced in a circular email as well as in the "news" segment on our homepage.
Alternatively, as a free mover you can look for a place at another university abroad on your own.
Placement abroad
You are responsible for finding a suitable internship abroad. To help you, we have put together some tips and helpful links.
If the company where you are doing the internship does not provide its own internship agreement, please complete the Training Agreement form.
Language skills
If you would like to test or improve your language skills in the run-up to your year abroad, the European Union's ERASMUS+ OLS offers you a wide range of language tests and courses free of charge and online for numerous European languages from level A1 to level C1 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Application for admission for your stay abroad
Please note that you must apply for admission using the relevant form before your semester or internship abroad.
If you decide to study abroad, you must submit a Learning Agreement agreed with your host university and your supervisor. If your host university is in the European Union, please use the form for ERASMUS+, otherwise use the second form provided.
After completing your stay abroad, you must submit an application for recognition of your year abroad using the appropriate form. Please enclose the transcripts from the foreign university and/or your internship certificates with your application.
If you have decided to do an internship abroad, you must also make an appointment with your supervisor to present your internship (approx. 30 minutes plus an interview). If you have chosen to study abroad, on the other hand, you must write a short final report. Please refer to the guidelines in this regard.
The grading of a study abroad programme is based on the conversion of the grades of the academic work done abroad. For an internship, on the other hand, the grade is determined through the presentation.
