VoIP - Telephone and Fax

Softphone

In order to be reachable even when working on the go, we provide the Avaya Workplace software/app. This allows the use of all the usual functions of our telephony system from an appropriately equipped end device.

A license is required to use the softphone. Therefore, please notify the telephony helpdesk of your need:

After checking the possibility of realization we will get in contact with you for the purpose of installation.

Instructions and assistance

Installation

Log in on this page at the top right via Login or via the SHIBBOLETH LOGIN button above with your university ID.
After successful login, download the latest version of the app for Windows from the download area on the right.
Update the Avaya Workplace app to the latest version.
Launch the app and tap the gear at the top of the right to go to settings.
Navigate to Dienste -> Automatische Einrichtung -> Internetadresse verwenden.
There add the following URL in the Address field: https://voip-autoconfig.hochschule-trier.de/acs/resources/configurations
Confirm the dialog with WEITER. The app is now set up correctly.

Open the side overview via the hamburger menu (three horizontal bars) on the top left -> Tap on the gear wheel in the top center to get to the settings.
Navigate to Dienste -> Automatische Einrichtung -> Use a Web Address.
There add the following URL in the Address field: https://voip-autoconfig.hochschule-trier.de/acs/resources/configurations
Confirm the dialog with WEITER. The app is now set up correctly.

Update (if automatic updates are not enabled) the Avaya Workplace App to the latest version.

Various

Due to important security and feature updates that have been activated in the telephone system at short notice, users of the Avaya softphone Avaya Workplace are required to update and re-register with the telephone system. To do this, follow one of the following instructions, depending on your operating system.

1. Launch the Avaya Workplace Client or the Avaya Workplace App.

2. Click on the gear icon.

3. Navigate to "Dienste".

4. Select "Automatische Einrichtung".

5. Start the change with "Automatische Konfiguration aktualisieren".

Please note that when maintaining contacts in your address book (e.g. Outlook or smartphone), you must always save phone numbers in international format (preceded by +49 xxxx xxxxx). This is recommended anyway, so that the phone numbers can be dialed correctly when abroad.
