Three female students from the fields of communication design and fashion design were awarded the renowned prize for outstanding product design. Lisa Maria Durchholz and Lisa Herrmann won the design prize in the category "Talents", Verena Kohn received a recognition for her product design.

"Good design is becoming increasingly important, especially in times of digitalisation. Design offers consumers orientation within the variety of products. Companies that place value on product design stand for quality and distinctiveness. And, of course, good design stands for creativity and innovative power. In summary: design makes the difference," emphasised State Secretary for Economic Affairs Daniela Schmitt at the presentation of the Rhineland-Palatinate Design Award at the Sayner Hütte in Bendorf.

"Design is also a factor for innovation and competition", said Schmitt. At the same time it is a pleasure to see the high quality of product design in Rhineland-Palatinate. "The product developments of our companies and designers are innovative, user-friendly and have design and ecological quality".

With the Design Award, the state of Rhineland-Palatinate honours outstandingly designed products of industry and trade. A total of seven prizes and four awards were presented, three of which went to Campus Design. This year, the Rhineland-Palatinate Design Award was organised by the Koblenz Chamber of Crafts in cooperation with the Rhineland-Palatinate Design Forum descom.

FLORES GAUDIUM - PACKAGING AND VASE
Designer: Lisa Herrmann
University of Applied Sciences Trier, Prof. Anita Burgard
The art of folding: Flores Gaudium is a transport box for bouquets even over long distances, which can be transformed into a vase through a perforation. The focus is on the safe transport and sufficient water supply of cut flowers. At the same time the box is so shapely that the flowers are welcome to stay in it.

BROKEN - THE KINTSUGI PROJECT
Designer: Lisa Maria Durchholz
University of Applied Sciences Trier, Prof. Dirk Wolfes
The Japanese Kintsugi focuses on the beauty of the imperfect. The Broken fashion collection combines this principle with precious materials such as silk and cashmere. In contrast to the classic, two-dimensional pattern construction, the models are developed by means of three-dimensional draping on the Kondo lady's bust - an innovative basis for model development

CITY TWITTERING
Design: Verena Kohn
University of Applied Sciences Trier, Prof. Anita Burgard
Whether bird house or bee hotel - the housing module system "City Twitter" offers the necessary flexibility to provide birds or other small creatures with urgently needed breeding space, food and drinking water.  A comprehensive protection approach. The basic module is quickly assembled and with eight different inserts opens up a solid wood universal solution for a natural, bird-friendly garden or balcony.
