Students from the Marketing Planning for Small Businesses course worked as marketing consultants for three small businesses in Trier and created a marketing plan under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Arias Bolzmann. The course had a social component because it helped local businesses in the Trier community.
Course description: This was an applied course which required field work. In this course students learned how to produce arguably the most important marketing tool for any business. Rather than simply learning the stages of The Marketing Plan, students were asked to complete weekly assignments in order to create the final version of the plan and produce a professional result.
As a result, this course allowed students not only to learn the essential parts of The Marketing Plan but also to help small businesses in the Trier area to apply sound marketing strategies.
It was important to get the commitment of local business owners who were interested in this social project. This commitment consisted in dedicating time for meetings with the students and being open to provide information about the business to the students who behaved as advisors/consultants
