Awareness: Windows updates

Microsoft always releases new updates on the second Tuesday of the month. Normally, Windows updates install themselves automatically. This process runs in the background so that no unnecessary computing power is used. As a result, it can take up to 8 hours for the automatic search, download and installation to be completed. Often the computers are not even switched on for this long. This can lead to the updates being installed very late or not at all.

We therefore recommend the following procedure:

1. Start the update manually once a month. You can find the function for this under
   Windows key -> Settings -> Update & Security -> Check for updates.
2. Then leave the computer switched on overnight.
