At the center of Katharina Ohmert's master's thesis is the Indian artist Amrita Sher-Gil, who combined European and Indian influences in her artistic work and critically examined India's social and societal problems. To this end, she used the stylistic devices of modernism as well as the forms of expression of traditional Indian art.
Her collection as well as the fabric prints she designed for it are inspired by this tension between European modernism and Indian tradition, and find their expression in crossing the respective given boundaries and play with them.
