Here we provide you with the necessary information on the requirements and the application procedure for a successful admission to the Master's programme in Fashion Design at Trier University of Applied Sciences.
Please apply for the winter semester by 01 June and for the summer semester by 01 December each year.
The determination of eligibility remains valid even if you start your studies at a later date
Study requirements
A qualified degree in an undergraduate degree programme in fashion design or a comparable creative degree programme with an overall grade of at least "good".
Knowledge of English or a comparable modern foreign language. As a rule, this is proven by several years of language instruction. In the case of a grade lower than satisfactory in the German grading system, the examination board shall decide on further proof of language proficiency.
Aptitude for the degree programme is determined by the aptitude test committee of the Fashion Design Department by means of the subject-specific test.
At least 210 credit points (ECTS) must have been acquired from the undergraduate studies. This corresponds to a 7-semester Bachelor's or Diploma degree programme.
A positive decision by the aptitude test committee on admission to the Master's programme, which will be sent after the aptitude test procedure.
Please note that the examinations in the field of fashion design are usually conducted in German. In order to pass examinations such as the Master's thesis, you should be able to speak German with confidence. Individual discussions with professors and lecturers can also be conducted in other languages if the teaching staff offer this.

Send the applications for admission by post to the Examination Office of Trier University of Applied Sciences by the deadline of 01 June or 01 December.

Master's exposé: Explain your professional and personal reasons for pursuing the Master's programme at Trier University of Applied Sciences. This letter of motivation should not exceed two DIN A 4 pages.

3. you will be invited to an interview.
The assessment of suitability is made by the aptitude test committee following an interview.
Suitable applicants will be invited to this in writing. The aptitude test committee of the fashion design specialisation decides on the aptitude on the basis of the required documents.
For the interview, the applicant must submit a portfolio that provides information about the qualification. The objective for a Master's programme explained in the letter of motivation should be convincingly presented in the interview. The selection of suitable candidates is made by the Qualifying Examination Board of the Fashion Design Department.
