GRAND PRIX was awarded to Paweł Kaczyński (Poland)
A visual heavy form; by seeing not spectacular, but by taking it in your hand you are suddenly surprised as the object is extremely light of weight. The perfection of craft and control over the material is a very important aspect in the execution. The volume of the cubic shape is made with very thin silver sheet and filled with feathers and gives both physical lightness and some stability. So it not only focuses on formal aspects but also awakes curiosity in the haptic experience.
2nd prize, was awarded to Kateřina Řezáčová (Czech Republic)
Poetic, modest approach of life and ageing?
A critical message about commercial jewellery?
It is the most open work for individual interpretation.
3rd prize, was awarded to Singrida Jurkšaitytė (Lithuania)
The objects with a surprising function which makes you curious. Their weight feels unfamiliar and gives a solid haptic experience. You need to feel it and to use it in order to have a full understanding of the object’s properties. It is a kind of thing which can be carried with you, used as a talisman or you may simply blow a whistle.
4th prize, prize of the Gallery of Art in Legnicawas awarded to Felicia Mülbaier (MFA 2019) (Germany)
A construction with canvas/textile. The electroforming technique is used for stabilizing the structure, which looks quite surprising. The silver provides an interesting surface, which still looks like textile. An innovative technological development may be observed here. Being awarded the fourth prize provides the author with a possibility to have a solo exhibition in the next year program. It is a promising starting point for ongoing research.
Special prize, Silver Spurwas awarded to Darijus Gerlikas (Lithuania)
It is a clear statement about silver waste, which you do not throw away because it represents a certain material value. The magnetic ring which is usually perceived as a valuable piece of jewellery serves here for the purpose of extracting broken saw blades, so what we observe here is a twist of values; a valuable object is of no material value at all.
Leftovers come from the silver pieces made over a certain period of time. A magnetic ring is a tool for taking out broken saw blades.
