New technological developments are giving increasing importance to cooperation between doctors and engineers. Medical progress also calls for innovative solutions and improved procedures in diagnostics and therapy in the field of medical technology. Medical technology companies, hospitals and research institutes increasingly need specialists with both engineering and medical backgrounds.
The bachelor's degree programme "Medical Engineering" provides an interdisciplinary education based on technical and scientific study contents and supplemented by medical knowledge about physiological processes in the human body. Students learn to develop and use electrotechnical devices, including software, in order to optimize the diagnosis and therapy of diseases. Another goal is to get to know and master the approval procedures for the application of medical devices to humans. This enables graduates to carry out and design all development steps of medical devices.
