Prof. Dr. Claudia Schon mainly teaches courses in the field of Artificial Intelligence. Her research interests focus on symbolic artificial intelligence, automated reasoning, and knowledge representation. In her research, she often combines these areas with methods from natural language processing and machine learning.
Previously, Prof. Dr. Schon worked at Debeka Insurance Company. She studied computer science with a focus on artificial intelligence and theoretical computer science, along with a minor in mathematics, at the University of Koblenz. She then completed her doctorate in the field of description logics at the University of Koblenz.
As part of the Klara Marie Faßbinder Guest Professorship, which Prof. Dr. Schon held at the University of Applied Sciences Bingen, she expanded her research focus to include prejudice and fairness as well as ethics in commonsense reasoning systems. In the winter semester of 2021/22, she held a temporary professorship at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.
