Alongside invited craftspeople and artists, the Gemstone and Jewellery Campus of Trier University of Applied Sciences will be presenting itself as part of the Living Workshops.
The presentation will focus on the processing of gemstones - various stone processing machines will be on display, including stone saws, stone drills, engraving spindles for producing flat and 3D engravings from gemstones and lapidary benches for producing faceted gemstones. During the days of the fair, these machines will be used by students and the experienced workshop manager of the Idar-Oberstein campus, Levan Jishkariani M.F.A., to produce handmade pieces. These live demonstrations provide an insight into the sparkling world of gemstone design and jewellery making. In addition to the gemstone cutting workshop, the university will be showing some impressive exhibits from the "treasure chamber" of a gemstone trader from Idar-Oberstein as well as the rebelliously creative jewellery pieces of some of the campus' graduates.
On all days of the fair, visitors to the stand will have the opportunity to find out about the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes offered at the Gemstone and Jewellery Campus as well as the continuing education Master's degree programme, which is aimed specifically at professionals with at least three years of professional experience and without a university degree.
