INTERACT 2025 Workshop on Human-Computer Interaction and Cooperation for Safety and Security

Safety and security, in terms of avoiding or limiting operating errors as well as external attacks on computer-based solutions, must not be seen as technical challenges only. Numerous incidents and accidents in various domains (e.g. aviation, crisis management, healthcare, power plant control) have shown that usability of safety-critical user interfaces and security mechanisms as well as user experience of human actors are key issues. In this context, the distribution of tasks between humans and machines is also repeatedly discussed in terms of static or adaptive automation. Looking at current developments in the field of AI, the question of the extent to which computers can not only be tools, but also cooperation partners, arises again and more strongly. These and other questions of human-computer interaction and cooperation are the subject of this workshop (e.g. users’ well-being in routine and extraordinary situations, inclusive design for safety and security, privacy, new work models).

This workshop is open to anyone interested in human-centered safety and security issues, be it the design, engineering, and evaluation of safety-relevant user interfaces, cooperation approaches or security mechanisms. It is organized by the IFIP Working Group 13.5 on Human Error, Resilience, Reliability and Safety in System Development.
