Felicia Mülbaier wins a Bavarian State Prize for her brooches "Physis" (brooch | lapis lazuli, gold | 2019) and "Faltenwurf" ( brooch | lapis lazuli, gold | 2019-2022).
The Bavarian State Prize is awarded to exhibitors of technical and artistic crafts at the International Craft Fair Munich for special design and technical achievements in crafts. The prize consists of a certificate, a gold medal and is endowed with 5,000 €; it is primarily intended for promotional use.
From the jury's statement: "Jewellery and gemstone design in Germany are inseparably linked with the town of Idar-Oberstein. Felicia Mülbaier already distinguished herself in the field of stone cutting during her studies at the university there. She received the Bavarian State Prize for brooches made of lapis lazuli. In her work, she shows completely new ways of working the stone that lead to small, sensitive jewellery sculptures with painterly qualities."
