How do young entrepreneurs work in the gemstone industry, what are the current developments? Students at the Idar-Oberstein campus had the opportunity to ask Isaline Arnoldi, a start-up entrepreneur from Kirschweiler, these and other questions to find out more about sustainability in the gemstone trade.
The siblings Isaline and Carl-Philip Arnoldi bring a new spirit to the traditional company HC Arnoldi. Isaline Arnoldi studied media and communication management in Munich in her Master's in the area of online sales of gemstones until 2018 and took over the marketing for HC-Arnoldi in 2019. Carl-Philip Arnoldi is a trained gemstone cutter and also studied management of medium-sized businesses in his Bachelor's degree. He runs HC Arnoldi together with his father. Together the siblings founded GEMHYPE.COM, a B2B online shop for sustainable gemstones, in 2019.
Through GEMHYPE.COM, only gemstones with transparent information are sold, from the conflict-free origin of a stone to a possible treatment. The rough stones are cut on site in Kirschweiler, using solely renewable energy. The finished gemstones are then packaged plastic-free and shipped to customers.
In addition, GEMHYPE.COM supports two start-ups in the countries of origin of the gemstones through the organisation "Sponsorships for Africa".
